Balance and Goals:
My mentor, Alura Cein, recently said this is a year of making and achieving goals; and I have to say that I have been feeling the vibe! I have been fairly quiet online for a while now. As mentioned previously, this is largely due to having to balance more in my personal and professional life.
Like many others in the world, I have struggled with employment and finances. This is not a new issue for me, though, but an ongoing one. The key is to get creative, follow guidance, and never give up. Creativity isn’t for your hobby. It’s for every area of your life.
I have made a new schedule and a new set of goals for this year. These apply to both my writing, publishing, and other projects, personal and private. It will probably be tweaked a little here and there as I receive more life and spiritual guidance from my higher-ups, via Alura. That’s the way I work. (Interestingly, I began doing this at the same time She announced Her new plans. We must be in sync!)
Getting the Spark Back:
The process of writing and the stress of furthering my education on the publishing and literary fronts was feeling more like a job that I dreaded. It really put a dent in my motivation, and for a while, I simply didn’t want to be bothered with any of it. Now, I’ve gotten some of that spark back and have a better idea of how to manage my time. I am creating a strategy that should greatly help me to reach my next goal.
Another issue that has been bothering me is advertising. After I released Ocean, I then had the additional job of making sure people knew the book was out there. I did not have the funds to pay for advertising – and, frankly, this is one of the things I hate about the so-called “self-publishing” market (which, you should know by now, doesn’t exist and never did). That situation may change this year. I shan’t go into detail, but there are new changes coming.
Refresh For New Year:
Both my author site and personal blog are due for another refresh. I have some ideas and will provide advance notice so readers and followers will know what to expect. Alura’s links on S.D. will change once Her new setup has gone live. I will also release an “update” post on S.D. and share some new content this month. Look for a second post here, as well, where I’ll go into a little more detail about writing plans, motivation, life, projects, etc.
